Privacy
As you may already be aware, O-Zone is personal project that allows me to practice my skills in web design (front-end), and server-side programming/database design (back-end). Overall, I wanted experience making a full-stack (front-end + back-end) solution.
As part of my goal to design a real-world application, I require some users to provide varying degrees of personal information. This will only apply to those who choose to experience the full O-Zone project. This will allow me to properly design and test the current and future features of this site. This page is dedicated to my intentions regarding the use and storage of this information, as well as providing you with some realities. That way you can make an informed decision on how much of this site you want to use and explore.
If at any time you feel you want any more information, have any concerns, or have any suggestions, feel free to contact me. I have set up a contact form on the 'About' page (as of the time of writing only accessible to account holders) that can be used for general contact. However, I can also be contacted at [email protected].
O-Zone Privacy Policy
- I intend to collect as little information as I possibly can. While the option for more information is there, I intended on keeping "required" information to a minimum.
- I will keep any data stored as securely as possible. All features I implement have security in mind and will be delayed if I feel that I cannot do adequate research before they are published. All new additions are reviewed and will often be tested for some time before they are made public. For any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please contact me through one of the previously mentioned avenues.
-
I will not have access to any passwords. They are salted and one-way hashed (think scrambled beyond recognition)
by default, so even accessing the database will only show me random characters. For example, while testing the
login feature (before password reset was enabled) for this site, I forgot a password. I needed to create a new
account to continue testing despite having access to the database passwords are stored in.
If you forget your password, please use one of the tools provided to reset passwords. If there are any issues please contact me through one of the previously mentioned avenues. - Only provide information you are comfortable with being viewed. As this is very much an experiment, I will spend time reviewing and optimizing the UI, internal code, and processes such as data flow and data storage. This will require me to view entries in database tables and any other locations that data/files of any kind will be stored. So keep this in mind while using this site.
- If you feel uncomfortable providing any type of information at any point, please do not. While the initial release does not have an option to delete an account or any information, this will be a top priority. In the meantime, if you want to have any portion or all of your data deleted, contact me and I will honour such requests.
Cookie Policy
Cookies (small text files stored on your computer) are currently used for the theme feature as well as part of the authentication portion of this site. There are currently no forms of tracking cookies that are used and there is no current intention to do so in the near future.
This policy will be continually reviewed and updated as O-Zone changes and expands. I intend on keeping users up to date on changes made to this site. Users with accounts will also be able to see a roadmap of features I plan to implement with descriptions. I intend on keeping that updated as well as I add more features.
